Regulations and Corporate Environmental Responsibility: evidence from a panel of firms in Transition economies

This study investigates how a set of regulations influences the pro-environmental actions firms in panel 25 Transition Countries. For this purpose, we use enterprise survey data developed by European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Investment (EIB) World Group (WBG). Based on logit modelling construction different indicators characterizing environmental firms, find that regulation positively affects decision to implement an eco-action. Results are confirmed when examine eco-action categories. Findings obtained from interactions also worthy note. In particular, board directors more prone consider shareholder interests, strong network effect emerges between EU candidate countries economies.
